  • Yesterday was interesting. Went to a client and did some programming review with him. It's a small account but i've made it a pet project of mine since I do like cigars and a good Rum and Coke. well, no drinking on the job but the cigar was great. he's been in business for a while now but he's only recently seen the fruits of his labor. All this thanks to some friends of his who helped him "wake up" from a nightmarish situation that he was in with someone of the opposite gender. The things that make you go,hmmm. Anyway, I'd like to see him maximize on his hard work some more now that the "word" is out on his product and the references are beginning to work for themselves.

Can't believe the holidays are right on our heels and gaining on us in what seems like hours these days. Enough posting for now.

It was good to do good. Sounds simple, I know but I'm not the kind of guy who would normally go around "posting" this on line. At least not until today. Feels good.

  • Just making a note that this coming Sunday, November 10, 2002, is the Marine Corps 227th Birthday. Semper Fi to all my fellow Marines who served with me and have become part of my family over the many years since our days in the Corps. Semper Fi to all former and present Marines both here at home and abroad. Remember, there is no such thing as an "ex-Marine".

  • Simply a good book to get back into the swing of things physically. Bit by bit you can get back into "fighting" shape - no matter how out of shape you're in. It gives you the breakdown of the body and nutrition and muscles and how they work, fatigue and rebuild. Nothing too technical. Just enough to make you aware of what's going on and the various programs for various figures and sports. I highly recommend it.

  • Great book !. In keeping with the Geotechno drama and writing style, Clancy breaks away from the central character, Ryan, and develops the other characters, namely those of Chavez and his mentor John Clark. Both C.I.A. operatives with several years of cloak and dagger work and all , of course, prior to being with the "company" . Each had several more years with the U.S. Military. Chavez was from a light infantry Army unit (where he did some work for the company - in another Clancy book) and Clark a former S.E.A.L. dating back in the days of 'Nam.

This book gives the reader some real insight as to how things work with special operations groups - be ye in the military or just an "extension" of any U.S. goverment branch.

Good reading, fast and to the point.

  • Tomorrow

Tomorrow  is 9/11/02. Exactly one year since the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the almost White House attack.

So much has happened to the world because of it. Sometimes it seems like just yesterday that it happened, other times it seems like so long ago. One thing is for certain, it has changed the world so much and the innocence of this country is long gone.

As for me specifically, well, I have to thank my lucky stars for having the type of family and friends that I have around me.

But wait....before I continue sounding like I just won the Miss America pageant or something...I want to stop right here and think for a bit.

Think about how many times I've stressed over crap that really wasn't worth stressing over. Think about the times when I've bitched about stuff that I just wanted... like right away and didn't get. Hell, I was going to live without it....quite well in fact. But no, I had to rant and rave for whatever it was that I wanted - or even thought I needed.

Hmmm....sounds like confession ? Guess so. See, I do believe that, like prayer, one can sort of "come clean" with oneself at any time in their lives. Be it while at home by yourself or in the middle of a crowded train heading to work.

Must stop and just breath for a second and put things in perspective. Then and only then will I get a grip on things in my life. Whatever it may be. Petty or otherwise.

End of Prayer  (or as some would call it " end of coming clean with self " ).

What's been going on with me lately ?

Well, there's change a-blowin' in the wind again and I am concerned but not overly. Call it the seasoning of a man that keeps me calmer and clearer in mind at times like this.

Did manage to spend 2 weeks with Carmen in Florida and that was fantastic. It's good to be in love - heh. Yeah, I know, look out, I discovered the wheel here. I'll stop here on that topic.

O.K. "Brave New World". This is your eternal student speaking here. Throw me another curve ball, or slider, or fastball..whatever. Show me what else life has to offer. We all gotta step up to the plate some time and I feel like I've been at the plate for a while and I'm due.......... or am I ? ....I mean, so far so good and now it's time for some kinda changeup ? Guess I should always expect it.

    Life......what a game.

  • "Change....is the only constant in life."

You know what ?    I hate it and love it.

It fills me with fear and wonder. Fear is good. For this means, I think, that I know I will be tested in one way or another. I will take the initial failure ,if any, to heart when I shouldn't. Then I know I'll wake up and shake it off. Get back on the horse and try it again.

I'd like to skip that step but I'm the kinda guy that has to "feel" through a situation. Gut instincts. That feeling crap and all that. Sometimes it's just cold, fast, thoughtless reflex for some things. Other times it's that "feeling" thing. That "felling" aspect is usually when there's a major thing that happens. Like most people, be it a break up or a change in routine or whatever.

Will try to "go with the flow". May as well. Go to adapt, overcome, and finally master whatever the change may be.

I have to. I wanna live happily. Inside and out.

Whew...life could be worse I guess. I could be alone in the world. Now that would suck.

"Nothing is as bad as it seems"

Hmmm.......I wonder which one is said more often these days ?
