  • A few days ago I was walking in my neighborhood with a freind of mine. He wanted to go to this new music store on 14th street between 5th and 6th avenues. He needed some strings for his electric guitar. It's a new store and man, people, talk about a huge store !

they had giant rooms for all types of instruments. Natually I gravitated to where the loud racket was at....the drum dept. They had three huge sets of drums and ther were these kids just jamming on all of them. All were keeping it tight and it was  really cool. Along the sites they had all kinds of percussion instruments and I went over to the Timbales and the Congas and tried them for a bit. It was great..been a bit and I had forgotten how much fun it is to get behind the Timbales and go off.

What really threw me for a loop was their incredible guitar section. It was a museum of the best guitars from all over. Man, talk about beautiful Fender Strats and Gibsons and ....what's that other one..the Les-Paul ?...really...there were more works of arts than instruments.

They had the guitars set up along the walls upright and like perched on these bars. Really simple but sweet presentation. As you look up at the wall the prices of the guitars go up....then there were the top four guitars.

Damn man, it ws like from $2k to like $4K as you go up and then those at the top were..can you beloieve it...?   $151K  !!

I had to walk away and  distract myself from breaking down in laughter from the sticker shock. People ! . I went and walked around the place for a bit and then came back just to make sure I wasn't going crazy   .  I saw the stickers again and I really made an effort to look for the decimal point at a reasonable location on the sticker. Sure enough, there was the comma and the deciimal point....yup....   $151K

I think I'll stick to my drums.
